What's new in climate news and education during the month of August.
Climate in the news (click titles to link to articles):
Climate education:
Report on climate and the American mind. Yale research. It is modestly encouraging!
Good climate news:
1. Underwater tidal turbine in Scotland spinning for 6 years and generating power. The potential is great!
4. Dr. Katharine Hayhoe's address to 16,000 Rotarians in Calgary this summer, Conservative Rotary is taking action on climate now.
How we can all do our part to preserve a livable world for our kids and future generations:
1. Climate challenges are many, but all is lost if we, if you, give up. No one can do everything, but EVERYONE can do something. And every 1/10th degree heating we can help prevent is worth the effort.
2. As the parties begin selecting candidates for Fall 2026, now is the time to vet them, in all parties, on the biggest threat to humankind - climate change. Use your voice and your vote!
3. Most tax credits and rebates from the feds, for heat pumps, EVs, etc., will end Dec. 31 (for EVs, September 30). Now is the time to buy if you can.
4. Talk to friends, family and workmates about climate change. See this great resource you can direct them to, for answers, at: www.skepticalscience.com
