October Climate Update
Climate in the news (click on titles below to see the articles):
  1. Heat shock in the oceans tipping coral toward extinction, imperiling fish stocks that depend on coral reefs
  2. Climate refugees, driven from their homes by heat, drought, failing crops and/or conflict, have no home to return to.  We'd move too, and move North.
  3. Climate disasters in the first half 2025 break cost records
  4. Texas senator calls for a billion dollar fund to upgrade Texas water infrastructure, conservation and sources.  No mention of climate change, the cause of the problem.

Climate education:  Global warming impacts by degree.  Every 1/10th of a degree matters.

Good climate news:

  1. Even as Trump shuts down scientific research and reporting on climate change, fired NOAA & EPA scientists are continuing the research and reporting on-line
  2. Six surprising places solar is taking off - you'll be surprised by some!
  3. Solar is booming - growing exponentially.  China is in the lead.

How we can all help preserve a livable world for future generations:

  1. Work for big, systemic change!  How?  For the next year, please campaign for, donate to, and vote for candidates at the state and federal levels who acknowledge the climate crisis and pledge to take action.  Right now, vet candidates on the climate issue and their electability.  No matter how good the policy match is with your concerns, if a candidate can't get elected, there is no point in supporting them.  Use your choices, your voice, your donations and your vote like the future depends on it - because it literally does!
  2. Talk with friends and family about the above.  You can only influence others if you speak up, respectfully!
  3. Join Citizens' Climate Lobby (link below) if you haven't already.  No cost to join so, why not?  Add your name to the fight for the future.
  4. Get Alan another speaking engagement with your club, church or a circle of friends in your living room.  No cost.
