Judy Code, our Good Neighbor
Judy Code receives the Northfield Rotary Club 2014 Good Neighbor Award from Erica Zweifel.
Each year, the Rotary Club of Northfield gives its “Good Neighbor Award” to a member of this community who exemplifies the club’s motto of “service above self.”
Club members submit nominations for those who perform selfless acts of kindness or service that contribute to a stronger, more cohesive community.
This year’s honoree is Judy Code. This time of year, Judy can be found gardening downtown. She was recently spotted at the library moving the plants that would be in the way of the new library addition so that these plants can be used elsewhere in the city.
After that, she worked her way to the garden bed near the sculpture and then along Division Street to the perennial garden at the corner. Judy spends countless hours weeding, pruning and planting in our city parks.
Judy Code is a current member and past president of the Northfield Garden Club. In 2014, she was awarded the Joseph Priley Award by the Minnesota State Horticultural Society for her work in Northfield. She is a member of the Beautify Northfield Coalition and the Save The Northfield Depot committee.
Previous winners of this award include Margit Johnson, Zach Pruitt and Judy Dirks.
