Alice Thomas is the winner of this year’s Good Neighbor Award, presented by the Rotary Club of Northfield
Each year the Rotary Club of Northfield gives our Good Neighbor Award to a member of this community who exemplifies our club’s motto of “service above self.” Club members submit nominations for those who perform selfless acts of kindness or service that contribute to a stronger and more cohesive community.
The club is pleased to announce that our 2015 honoree is Alice Thomas. Alice has been involved in many aspects of the Northfield community, from youth events to community-wide initiatives. Alice’s most recent project is being a member of the Save the Northfield Depot organization, where she can be found shepherding the move of our historic train depot. Last weekend Alice could be seen photographing the newly poured depot foundations.
Alice Thomas has served on a number of local boards and commissions including the Northfield Planning Commission, Northfield School Board, Northfield Soccer Association, Northfield Hospital Board, Northfield 4-H Leader and the Northfield League of Women Voters. Thank you Alice for your passion, dedication and impact that your efforts have on the entire community.
In accepting the award Alice noted, “It was clear to us when we moved here in 1967 that this was a community that took care of one another and their surroundings. Many people and organizations carry on that mission through their service — including the Northfield Rotary Club. It is truly an honor to receive such an award from a group for whom that is a core value.”
