Last Week:

Lee Dilley straddles two worlds. He looks for ways to use today’s science and technology in service to the enduring tribal rhythms that have guided societies for centuries.

All of that started in Waterford Township, where he grew up in a stimulating household, one that cultivated his desire for learning and adventure. He helped on the farm and became a pilot at 16. While in high school, he helped create a glass-recycling project for the Northfield area.

He traveled some and ended up at the University of Montana where he met his wife, Vicki. They served together in the Peace Corp at Tavalu, a Pacific island. They returned to Northfield in the mid-‘80s to raise their family — Riana and Evan — and Lee went to work at Malt-O-Meal, where he continues to be employed.

He’s been involved in the early days of the Prairie Creek School, served as a Stephen’s Minister at Emmaus Baptist Church and has been a passionate advocate for energy conservation and efficiency. Lee is a member of the Northfield Energy Task Force and sees many opportunities for local initiatives that will produce sustainable energy. He says southeastern Minnesota is uniquely positioned to take advantage of wind energy. This is where the wind resource and the transmission system meet.

Standing O: Given in tribute to Bob Will for the great work he has done cultivating the Paul Harris Fellowship program. Bob has brought 139 fellows into the fold during his tenure with this project. He is now turning the reins over to Dave Brown. Thanks Bob for your great, inspiring work.

Paul Harris Fellow: DeAnne Weber was named an honorary Paul Harris Fellow for her support of Rotary. Chris Weber, her husband and sponsor, said her work at home and her belief in the work of Rotary has allowed him to be an active member of the club.

Guests: Michael Scott (Young), DeAnne Weber (Weber), Chris Otis Skinner Carolyn Dilley (Dilley).

Scholarship Enhancement: Michael Scott
