Last Meeting:

Russ Halverson is most certainly the Daniel Boone of our time. He just lacks the buckskin fringe.

He is a land surveyor, a third generation land surveyor. His grandfather was a land surveyor, and his father was a land surveyor. Russ had little choice. He grew up pounding stakes for his Dad, and ultimately graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a degree in Land Surveying and Mapping.

He grew up in the Winona area, but attended high school at a private Lutheran academy in Fergus Falls. He and his wife, Karna, moved to Northfield five years ago. Russ worked for a larger firm in Faribault for several years, but was laid off when the recession hit. After only a few days in front of the television, he decided to open his own firm. He now operates Halverson Land Surveying out of Northfield.

Russ’s parents instilled him with a love for service. Since joining Rotary, he has jumped right in on our youth exchange program. He and his wife are currently a host family for Marion.

Robert Bierman, our president-elect, introduced Russ. His mini-classification reminded us that he lives in Apple Valley with his wife and two children. When he is not coaching or watching his kids’ sports, he works for Bierman Home Furnishings in Northfield.
