Charles Goldstein, Raising the Curtain on Your Second Act. This presentation addresses the state of the workplace and the challenges faced by those in the 40+ age bracket. More importantly, it provides the path for opportunities for those seeking to change their work and pursue a career better representing their dreams and desires. "2nd Acts" refers to those who may actually be in a 3rd, 4th or more phase of their work life, as well as some who choose to start a new venture during retirement in their field of interest and passion as well. Hosted by Bob Thacker.

A New Vision for Our Club: A Beginning, presented by President-elect Todd Thompson and the Strategic Planning Team: Don Stager, Brad Frago and Ellen Iverson

The team presented the results of the club's recent visioning exercise. We wanted members to dream big, envisioning our club three years out. The group included 22 members plus the input of many others through the survey that was sent out.

Some of the ideas include:

  • Club Size: All supported growth to various degrees. No one wanted a smaller club.
  • Ability to adapt: We want to reflect our local demographics, be known for making a difference, for being environmental, for fellowship, for being inclusive. Various changes to structures or procedures could support our ability to adapt.
  • Enhance participant engagement
  • Increase our Impact in the community and internationally
  • Increase our fundraising?
  • Promote the Rotary Foundation
  • Consider a Northfield Rotary foundation or endowment? Promote estate planning?
Next steps are to create a master plan -- generate SMART goals and action plans (SMART = specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-based).
The team will send out a signup form soon. Think about where your passions and interests lie, and put your name in one of the major areas for the purpose of planning in that area. It doesn’t mean you are signing up for that initiative long-term. Our existing teams will still be going forward.
The entire March 25th meeting can be viewed here.

Vicki's Vision

   Vicki Dilley, President

Dear Friends,
We thank the team who presented the Strategic Plan last week.  The plan is step one, step two is the implementing and follow through.
One of the items that we have not been putting in the Cogwheel since we have gone digital is that little column on the side that would list the committee chairs and who is on their 'team'.  It is helpful to know who is on what committee.
In the next couple of weeks the board members will be reaching out to each of the sub-committee chairs to check in with each group.
To double check your committee, look for your name below.  If you aren't on a committee or want to switch committees, please let someone on the Board know and we will be happy to plug you into the right spot.
Thank you and have a great day!  Vicki
