Today’s Program: Highlights of the 2011 Legislative Session, Senator Al DeKruif, Representative Kelby Woodard (Thacher)

Happy Birthday: David Wolf (6/6).

Next Week:  Ryan Blumhoefer, Classification (Benson)

Last Meeting:

Tim Madigan brings valuable experience and wisdom to his new position of City Administrator for Northfield.  After four years teaching social studies, Tim decided that city administration was his calling.  St. Louis Park, Excelsior, Waseca and Faribault have earlier benefitted from his capable work.

One of seven children, Tim worked at a young age in the mid-1960’s at his parents’ news store in the college town of Washington, PA.  Newspapers, reading, and small town life were his grounding, along with his brother’s 1966 Plymouth Barracuda that he still has and treasures to this day. Tim met his wife, Wendy, in college.  They and their two daughters have thrived on small town life ever since.

Tim’s goal is to lead the City of Northfield by providing the same high quality expertise as is found in the other successful and strong organizations in the community.

Tim has been a Rotarian for 28 years in four previous clubs, and we are happy to welcome him to Northfield!

Mini-Classification: Mark Abbott grew up in Rochester, NY, pursued an engineering degree and an MBA leading to a career in high technology glass manufacturing which ultimately brought him first to Faribault and then to Dundas where he now works with automated glass inspection systems.  Mark is married to Diana and they have three children – Alexander, Sarah and Christopher.

Guests: Jessie Diggins, professional cross country skier from Stillwater. Check her blog at (Lee Dilley)

Visiting Rotarian: Bill Talen, back from Delray Beach for the summer.  Bill was our club’s first Paul Harris Fellow.

Scholarship Enhancement: Rick Estenson

— Our newest member, Clarice Grabau was inducted, continuing a welcome trend of couples who are both Rotarians.  Please welcome Clarice to our club.
