Matt Detert is embarking on a new chapter in his professional life. This week he started a new job with Target organization, serving as senior manager of corporate risk.DSCN0890

His professional background is in data security. Until his move to Target, he was employed by Deloitte & Touche and worked with a number of major corporations and even the U.S. Department of the Treasury in the area of protecting data.

Matt was born in San Diego to parents with Minnesota roots. His father was in the Navy during Matt’s early years, so they moved around some. He is the oldest of four boys. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a major in biology and a minor in music.

He married a woman, Tamara, who he knew from high school. She is now a physician with Allina Medical Clinic in Northfield. They like to travel and have been to Japan, Mongolia, Tanzania and many other places. Matt also rides bikes and motorcycles and is rekindling his interest in music. The banjo is on his agenda.

He and his wife moved here in 2006. They are eager to put down roots in Northfield. Matt said Rotary provides him an opportunity to meet new people and to become involved in community service.

Matt is also furthering his education. He is currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He commutes there to school every other weekend.

Paul Harris Fellows – Paul Harris Fellowships were presented to Kris Estenson and to Fred Rogers. Congratulations for your outstanding service.DSCN0885
