The 1868 Scriver Building, 35 year home to the Northfield Historical Society, is now totally handicapped accessible thanks to the “Taking Northfield History to the Next Level” capital campaign nearing completion.   $115,000 in contributions are still required to complete the $700,000 project that provides a new elevator, six new public restrooms, plus major remodeling resulting in improved office and storage spaces in this historic landmark building on Bridge Square.

Hayes Scriven, Executive Director of the Historical Society, provided an update on the capital project along with impressive statistics on the high level of usage of the resources of the Society.  19,000 visitors visit the Museum annually and in the past five years over 245 students from all levels, elementary to college, have participated in programs funded by the Historical Society.

Hayes, who grew up in Nerstrand, and received a degree in history from UMD, continues to competently and enthusiastically lead the Northfield Historical Society, as he has for over six years.
